Halim Al-Hakawati
Al-Hakawati is a solo storytelling and improv performance! Yes, you read that right. I get up on stage all alone and improvise a full show. It still scares the shit out of me every time! It was born because of a need (my partner had to leave town - and no, it’s not because of what you’re thinking) and then I had to… well… improvise!
Anatomy of a Home
Anatomy of a Home plays at the intersection of storytelling with autobiographical monodramas. In it, I explore my relationship with my home, Beirut; a place I love so much that promised to never leave and now I’m learning to hate because I can’t live in it for another second.
Be My Guest
Two improvisers. Stories. Short scenes. Audience members. Fun! Because of this show, I was able to play with many great improvisers wherever I was invited. Being the first improv show with which I started touring, it keeps a special place in my heart, especially that it allows me to play and learn from the best improvisers out there.
Peer Gynt of Bourj Hammoud
My first storytelling performance was commissioned by the Amsterdam Storytelling Festival in 2018. Soon the show transformed into an auto-biographical monodrama and started touring the world. Look out for it in a city near you. I’m currently working on rewriting it in Arabic, too.
This is Beirut!
This is Beirut! is a live variety radio show… Oh but it’s fully improvised! Interviews, stories, events, and other happenings come to life on stage by Fida’ “Feeds G” Ghibreel and myself. The stage might be too big for just a radio studio, but it definitely gets much bigger… or smaller as the worlds of stories are created.
Interview the Dead
In this one-on-one performance, audience members get to interview one of 10 dead personalities. Ghina Daou and I each play 5 of these personalities. We also change the personalities that we prepare depending on where we’re performing the show. You will love this experience!
